Math - Break Shapes into Equal Parts
Children build on their understanding of shapes and equality as they learn to partition shapes into equal parts. They extend their understanding of equality to include spatial equality as they learn that same size parts are equal parts. They decompose circles, squares and rectangles into two or four equal parts and describe the parts as halves, fourths or quarters. They describe relationships between a whole shape and its equal parts.
